For youu
Ocean House
The windshield wipers squeaked as they swished back and forth across Lillians car. She was unusually overjoyed about her first day of work. She began day-dreaming about the mysterious boy who had walked up the beach. Lillian pulled out of her vision just in time to swerve and avoid a seagull sitting right in the road, ignoring all the rain and cars. Honestly, she thought as she pulled into the parking lot of her new job. She was already dressed and ready for the job of being a waitress. Lillian was just beginning to walk toward the building, when a car turned madly into the parking lot and drove right in front of her. Water sloshed all over her clean outfit. She was wet, shocked, and very cold. The man who was driving the car walked up to her. She turned to look at him, possibly even yell at him, then stopped dead. It was him. The one who had been walking up the beach was right there in front of her. She opened her mouth, but then found she had nothing to say. He was quite a good looking person. He had long, wavy blond hair that fell to his shoulders and around his perfect face. The person had very clear blue eyes behind a pair of rectangular glasses. He was sort of tall and thin. While she was contemplating all of this, he had been rapidly apologizing. And there was a bird, right in the middle of the lane! he said exasperatedly. So Im really sorry I got you kind of
wet. He said, looking a little ashamed. But I can get you a new outfit. Cmon, lets get inside. Lillian followed him.
My names Lillian Riley. She said. For the first thing she would say to this nice person, she was very glad she didnt screw it up. Im Jared Lagreen. So you work here too? He said. Yes, you are the only reason I decided to try to work here. She thought, but instead said Yea, Im going to be a waitress. First day? he said, with a smile. She nodded. Dont worry, Im sure youll do fine, said Jared. Lillian saw this as the highest compliment ever. Fine suddenly seemed like the most wonderful praise in the world. They walked through the hotel to the restaurant section. Jared instructed her to stay put as he walked to the back. Lillian was just getting over the giddiness caused by his sudden appearance about ten minutes previously. She was starting to worry about how she looked standing there in wet clothes, when Jared returned with a new outfit for her. He handed it to her, said Good luck, then turned around to walk back to the kitchen. Lillian realized exactly how much trouble she had gotten herself into.
Days at the Ocean House passed slowly for Lillian. She always seemed to have polite customers who gave generous tips. She focused most of her efforts into catching a glimpse of Jared whenever possible, but this soon proved to be a challenge. Jared took his breaks at odd times, and always went out to walk along the beach. When he did so, Lillian was sometimes lucky enough to watch him out the dining room windows, but he was usually quite far away. Jared also worked in the kitchen area. He prepped the food. Lillian had hoped for a little interaction between them, but this wasnt the case. Occasionally, she would pass Jared on the way in and out of the building, but he never said anything more than a simple Hello. He was never rude to her, in fact most of the time he was very polite, but every time when Lillian would pass him by he would be quite busy. She eagerly awaited the day when they could talk again.

Jared was walking back into the building from his break when he finally saw her again. This had been the third time that day he had caught a glimpse of her. She had long, brown hair that was almost never tied up in a pony-tail that was so accustomed to other waitresses. She had pretty hazel eyes, and was almost always smiling. She was a bit shorter then he was, the top of her head coming to his chin, but Lillian was still cute. He winced as he thought back to the day he had carelessly driven almost directly into her. He hadnt run her over, but instead sent a shower of water all over Lillians uniform. He didnt tell her, but he thought she looked nice, dry or wet. He had run into her a few times while at work, but had been a little nervous to talk to her. Jared thought back to his previous relationship, lasting for a little over 3 years. His ex-girlfriend had broken up with him, and gone out with another guy the very next day. He was left crushed. Somehow, though, seeing Lillian almost every day had cheered up him slightly. He liked watching her and listening to her talk, even if she might not have an interest in him. While he was mulling over his memories, Lillian was walking down the hall towards him. He pulled himself out of his thoughts and smiled at her. She smiled back. Hi, hows your day going? he said. Where did that come from, he thought. However, she seemed pleased he was talking to her. It could be better, she replied. Im working a table with two obnoxious guys. Jared wasnt too sure what to say to this, so he said Oh
Im, um, sorry. He thought about the words he had just said and, realizing they sounded a bit silly, turned red. She said goodbye and smiled as she walked away. Oh, just great, I completely ruined that conversation, as he walked back to the kitchen.
The day slid by slowly. Jared chopped, diced, and sliced the food, but he still thought about Lillian. He soon had another few minute break, and left the kitchen. As he was walking down the hallway to the outside, he saw none other than Lillian, sitting on the floor with tears in her eyes. He was stunned. For some reason, his feet decided to carry him over to her, and he stood awkwardly beside her. She looked up and blushed bright pink. Hey, whats wrong? he said, sympathetically. Its those two guys I was waiting on, she said, with a sniff. One of them stuck their foot out to trip me, and I spilled water all over the other one. Now hes gone to complain to the manager. She hung her head. Thought spun wildly in Jareds head. What if she was fired? Or demoted? Or if she had to work the morning shift as punishment? He couldnt possibly let this happen. He cleared his thoughts for a moment and kneeled down next to her. She had really started to cry now. Hey, dont worry, Ill try to fix it. She looked up at him hopefully. Her eyes were so pretty. He smiled and wiped the tears off her face. Ive gone absolutely insane! he thought. Instead of pushing his hand away, she smiled and blushed. He hastily stood up and said uneasily, Dont worry; Ill go find the manager and explain all this. He hated to leave her sitting there alone, but he had to get this straightened out. He walked hurriedly back down the hall to the managers office. He burst into the room without even knocking.
Sir- he said, but was cut off by his bosss stern expression. Jared started again. Sir, you cant fire Lillian, it wasnt her fault! The manager tried to comment, but he kept going. Shes really nice and sweet and wouldnt do something like that to anybody. The man opened his mouth, but again he was interrupted by Jared saying, It was those two rowdy people tricking her! He took a deep breath for more, but his boss jumped in. Jared, stop, I believe you. Those people are in here all the time trying to get somebody in trouble. This time though, will defiantly be the last. Oh. Umm thank you, sir, Said Jared, looking a little ashamed. Any time, his boss said, and Jared went back across the room to open the door again. He nearly tripped over Lillian, who was sitting directly in front of the doorway. She smiled up at him. He held out his hand to help her up. Thanks, Jared. Thanks a lot. She said, with another smile. Say, Lillian, I was wondering something, he said. He put his free hand behind his head and started messing with his hair, as his other hand was still holding Lillians. Yea? she said. You want to go out with me sometime? Jared said, quickly. He felt himself turn slightly red, but Lillian answered in less than a second. Id love to.
